Library Board Approved Minutes - August 6, 2015

DeForest Area Public Library Regular Library Board Minutes
Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

  1. Call to Order and Roll Call
    • President Van Iten called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.
    • Present : Blount, Englesby, Gorres, Lawrence, Van Iten, Ziegler.
    • Absent : Borden.
    • Also present : Berg, Newbegin.
  2. Approval of Agenda
    • Motion to Approve as presented : Lawrence.
    • Second : Gorres.
    • Action : Approved.
  3. Approval of Regular & Annual Meeting Minutes of July 2, 2015.
    • Motion to Approve as presented : Englesby.
    • Second : Blount.
    • Discussion : None
    • Action : Approved.
  4. Public Presentations / Communications
    • Berg noted the Times-Tribune had an article with pictures of the Harry Potter Birthday Bash on the front page.
  5. Approval of Bills
    • Motion to Approve the Bills as presented : Gorres.
    • Second : Lawrence.
    • Discussion : Berg noted the library paid its share of the cost for the new Dane County Libraries banner, and also paid its 4th of July parade entry fee to the Chamber of Commerce.
    • Action : Approved.
  6. Reports
    1. Director's - Berg reported she was applying for a grant from Funds for Kids and Newbegin was applying for a grant from Madison Community Foundation.
    2. President's - Van Iten thanked the library staff for the terrific Harry Potter Birthday Party event.
    3. Village Update - Blount gave a brief update on past discussions about allowing chickens in the Village, Rep. Ripp’s visit with the Village, and noted Village budget time is coming.
  7. Old Business
      1. Discussion of 2016 Budget.
        • Berg passed out and discussed handouts with the budget information she has to date and stated she will continue to refine the numbers. Berg discussed the possibility of the DASD 18-21 program using library space during the school year.

    1. None.

    1. Review General Policies.
