Eleanor Roosevelt shares with the audience her tragedies and triumphs. Born into the opulent wealth of America’s “Golden Age” she would grow from the shy, homely orphan into a confident, driven woman.

Annealed by personal tragedy, she would emerge as a champion of civil rights, author, and stateswoman.

Eleanor has been characterized by many as our most respected First Lady. She is best summed up by President Harry S. Truman, who dubbed her “The First Lady of the World.”

Amelia Klem Osterud will talk about the history of tattoos, from ancient times to modern trends, as well as about the gutsy women who captivated circus and sideshow audiences with their own tattoos.

Her 2014 book, The Tattooed Lady: A History, explores the true stories behind the lives of tattooed women who performed on stages across the United States from Victorian times to the 1990s.

Learn to know if a backyard animal is in distress or in need of help with Wisconsin WildCare. Volunteer Holly Hill-Putnam will discuss how to know when an animal needs help and will tell us stories of some of Wisconsin WildCare’s special patients.

Adult Take & Make: Scrap Fabric Wreath - Registration Required

Kits will be available for pick up starting Monday, July 19.

Make your own unique wreath using scraps of fabric. Fabric and 8 inch wreath ring provided in kit. Simply knot the fabric until the wreath is covered! Colors and type of fabric vary.

Learn the ins and outs to buying, growing and enjoying healthy houseplants! Certified Master Gardener Dayna Dalton will give you names and characteristics of plants that will thrive in the home environment.  

You will leave this talk with guidelines for potting and repotting houseplants, watering them, and ways to keep your houseplants clean.

Join Hawthorn McCracken and Andrew Turner of the Madison Mycological Society for a beginner's guide to foraging for fungi. We will discuss ethical and safety considerations for foraging in Wisconsin.

Attendees will also learn about some beginner-friendly mushroom species to confidently start their foraging adventures.
