Discover diverse books, log activities, and READ WOKE.
“Read Woke is a movement. It is a feeling. It is a style. It is a form of education. It is a call to action; it is our right as lifelong learners. It means arming yourself with knowledge in order to better protect your rights. Knowledge is power and no one can take it away. It means learning about others so that you can treat people with the respect and dignity that they deserve no matter their religion, race, creed, or color.
The start of a new school year and the conclusion of a successful summer reading program are worth celebrating! Stuart Stotts, DeForest's own award-winning singer, author, and storyteller will help us do just that with a free drive-in, park, and listen concert on the Market Street side of the library.
If our summer readers keep up their hard work, there may even be free ice cream for concert attendees! #LoveLocalDeFo
Let your imagination run wild! Join us for a magical, fun, and witty morning as we say farewell to our Imagine Your Story reading program. We'll roll the dice and be the authors of our own stories.
Party Kits will be available for pickup at the front desk starting Tuesday, August 25 at noon.
