Join others in creating a traditional rangoli for the Hindu festival of lights named Diwali. These works of art are made of flour, rice, or other colored materials and built on the floor as a decoration during festivals and are thought to bring good luck.
Sure you've drawn in 2D but with our new 3D Pen you can take your sketches to another dimension, the 3rd Dimension. This pen is (something) like a manual 3D printer, it uses plastic filament that it softens as it heats up allowing you to draw lines that cool into your final 3D masterpiece.
Try your hand at creating with this modern art material. Then after you have made your masterpiece we will be firing them in the oven at the library so you can take home the hardened art piece.
We will be making Mexican Day of the Dead sugar skulls and learning about this colorful holiday that honors and remembers the spirits of those loved ones that have passed on. This holiday is celebrated October 31 - November 2.
This second session we will be taking our dried skulls and decorating them with icing.
Patrons are welcome to come to decorate even if they didn't mold a skull. While supplies last.

This first day we will be making the sugar mixture and pressing it into molds to make the skulls themselves. Patrons are free to take one home this night but they must dry for 24 hours before they are ready to decorate.

Bring your digital picture file, we will print it with special ink, then use our heat press to permanently bond the image onto a mug. Once heat transferred these full color images are dishwasher safe. Maximum picture size is 8.5"x4".

Anyone is welcome to come into the Workshop to explore and see what it has to offer. Try your hand at sphero, osmo, snap circuits, and 3D printing, or many other options to nurture your inner scientist. There will be a librarian on hand to answer your questions and to help get you started.
