- Discussion: Berg noted this is an extremely large bill run. Books that were ordered months ago – a few even last year—have been showing up almost daily. Replacements for the self-check units weren’t available until now. The old units have been disconnecting frequently. They are no longer able to be repaired. They are probably from the late 2000s. The old children’s educational game computer is on its last legs and has lasted almost 20 years so the replacement was ordered with year-end discounts and before prices go up in 2022. Other items we had tried to order earlier in the year and due to supply chain issues weren’t available.
- Action: All Approved
- Reports
- Director's - A new cleaning company and crew started January 3rd. New dumpsters were slow to arrive so there were a couple of days where the garbage had no place to go. Planning for the first quarter of the year is well underway. Instead of closing on Martin Luther King Day the library offers educational programs and opportunities for volunteering. Public Health Madison Dane County held a vaccination clinic in the Classroom & Workroom on Monday, January 3rd (the Community Room was booked with our programs). They had a huge turnout. They will be coming back on Wednesdays from noon to 5 p.m. until there’s no more community interest.
- President's - None.
- Village Update - Landgraf reported there is a new trash collection company that will need some fine tuning. Big item pick up is free. The Financial director the village board was about to hire quit before he started. He got a better offer from where he currently worked. Landgraf talked a bit about the new village administrator, Bill Chang who starts February 1st. He was at Cross Plains and Arcadia. He has a Master’s degree in public administration. There will be two months for him to work with Steve during a transition period.
- Old Business
- Continued discussion about the strategic plan.
- One staff member has read the plan and given input. Berg is still waiting for others to do so. The goal is to have it to the board by the April meeting.
