Stop in before Summer Exploratory and learn from author Bev Davis about her book, Winging It, and how family members can work together to protect and save the Monarch butterfly.

Learn what simple supplies and plants you can put in place at your home to help these butterflies thrive.  

In case of rain this event will move inside to the library’s Community Room.  

Flourish & Blotts Book Sale

Flourish & Blotts Bookseller (aka the Friends of the DAPL) will be opening its bookrooms in honor of Harry Potter's birthday! The rooms will reveal delights for muggles, wizards, and witches alike.

Volunteers will be on hand to help you find just the books, movies, and music you want and need.

Please support the Friends of the DeForest Area Public Library, a 501(c)(3) organization. All proceeds benefit the DeForest Area Public Library.

Masks are encouraged and appreciated while in the Library. 

Back-to-School Book Sale

Grab fresh reads for the end of summer and stock up for a new school year at the self-service Friends of the DAPL Book Sale. Both bookrooms will be open for a special one-day sale, Saturday, July 31, 9 am to 3 pm.

Browse the racks on the lower level of the Library, including the children's book room, and pay for them at the Circulation Desk on the main level during library business hours. Payment will be on the honor system. Change will not be available, but donations above your purchase price are welcome.

Volunteers will update the selection regularly, so shop often!

Pride Month Rainbow Tie Dye - Registration Required

The Workshop

Join us to celebrate LGBT pride by signing up to make your own tie dye shirt!  Bring your own white cotton shirt (or other item) and twist and color it they way you want.

Masks are appreciated and allow us to help you. Please note the last 15 minutes of each session are for cleanup and resetting for the next session.

Chalk the Patio Again!

Let your creativity go wild and bring animals to life with chalk on the Library patio (outside the Children's Room).

Need some inspiration? Perhaps a roll of the dice will help you create a fantastical new creature. Or you can take a turn or two on a chalk obstacle course.

Tales Take Flight - Session 2

Tales about parrots, macaws, and other exotic birds are often as beautiful as their tails. Meet some of these amazing creatures and learn about Feathered Friends Sanctuary & Rescue and the work they do to rescue and provide safe haven for exotic birds in captivity.

Space will be limited for this indoor program. Masks will be encouraged and appreciated, and social distancing will be required. 

Due to limited space this program will be offered twice. The Tales Take Flight - Session 1 at 1:00 pm is the same program as this one.
